Comparing durability of steel reinforced grout (SRG) and textile reinforced mortar (TRM) for structural retrofitting

We assess tensile performance of Steel Reinforced Grout (SRG) and Fabric Cementitious Matrix/Textile Mortar, upon exposure to aggressive environments. Galvanized brass-coated Ultra High Tensile Strength fabrics are considered for SRG, while carbon, AR-glass, basalt PBO investigated TRM, in a common cement mortar. Exposure the environments is realized by specimen immersion 1000 h (41.6 days) at controlled temperature distilled water as well alkaline, saline acid solutions. Mechanical rectangular 1-ply coupons assessed uni-axial traction: Ultimate strength elongation, dissipated energy failure environmental conversion factors design values calculated compared. It found that significant difference exists dependence environment under consideration. As result, careful selection reinforcing fabric leads substantial advantage terms durability, should be capitalized stage. A simple material matrix presented which suggests best textile/aggressive combination purposes.
